At Ashling Park Estate, we believe that a day out, a lovely meal or a relaxing overnight stay is always better when your four-legged friend can come too.

Our family-run vineyard is a place where dogs are genuinely welcome. From strolling through the vines and joining a vineyard tour to settling down beside you in our restaurant or snoozing in the sunshine on your private lodge terrace, there’s no reason for your faithful companion to miss out.

And with ancient woodlands, rolling hills, picturesque harbour paths and some of the South Coast’s finest beaches just a few miles away, Ashling Park is the perfect base for exploring Sussex with your dog.

Dog-Friendly Vineyard Tours, Even Dogs Can Appreciate a Good Vintage!

Ever fancied taking your dog wine tasting? Well, at Ashling Park Estate, you can!

Our dog-friendly vineyard tours and wine tastings welcome well-behaved four-legged companions to join their owners as we wander through the vines, discovering how we grow our grapes and produce our award-winning English still and sparkling wines.

After exploring the vineyard, we head back to our beautiful tasting rooms, where guests enjoy a guided tasting of four Ashling Park wines.

Sadly, our four-legged visitors haven’t ID for wine tasting, but we’ll make sure there’s a bowl of fresh water waiting for them instead!

It’s a lovely way to spend an afternoon in the Sussex countryside without having to leave your dog at home.

Our Dog-Friendly Restaurant has Room for Everyone, Including the Dog!

Finding a lovely restaurant that welcomes dogs can sometimes be a challenge, particularly if you’re looking for somewhere special rather than a quick pub lunch.

Our spacious restaurant has plenty of room between tables, so your dog doesn’t have to squeeze uncomfortably beneath your feet. We even have dog beds available, perfect for those who find the floor a little too hard after a long countryside walk.

While you enjoy delicious seasonal dishes and a glass of our estate-grown English wine, your companion can settle down comfortably beside you.

In the warmer months, our outdoor terraces provide another beautiful spot to relax, take in the vineyard surroundings and enjoy a leisurely lunch.

Whether it’s Sunday lunch, a special dinner or a relaxed afternoon with friends, dogs are part of the welcome at Ashling Park.

Dog-Friendly Luxury Lodges – Stay Together, Explore Together

Our luxury dog-friendly vineyard lodges provide the perfect retreat for couples, families and their four-legged companions looking for a peaceful countryside escape.

Imagine spending the day walking through ancient woodland, exploring the South Downs or enjoying the sea air at West Wittering, before returning to Ashling Park for a delicious dinner in our restaurant.

And there’s no need to leave your dog alone in the lodge while you dine – they’re welcome to join you in the restaurant too.

After dinner, head back to your lodge, light the fire and settle in for a cosy evening together.

During the summer months, your dog might prefer to stretch out on the private lodge terrace, snoozing in the sunshine while you enjoy a glass of Ashling Park sparkling wine.

With beautiful countryside all around you, it’s the sort of place where both humans and hounds can properly unwind.

Some of the Best Dog Walks in Sussex – Right on Our Doorstep

One of the great things about staying at Ashling Park Estate is just how much there is to explore with your dog.

From gentle vineyard strolls to coastal adventures and extraordinary ancient forests, there’s something for energetic explorers and leisurely wanderers alike.

1. Kingley Vale National Nature Reserve – A Magical Ancient Forest

Within walking distance of Ashling Park Estate

If there’s one walk we always recommend to our guests, it’s Kingley Vale.

Stepping into this extraordinary nature reserve is rather like walking onto the set of The Lord of the Rings.

Narrow pathways wind between enormous, twisted yew trees, their ancient trunks and tangled branches creating a wonderfully mysterious woodland. Some of these remarkable trees are believed to be around 2,000 years old, making them among the oldest living things in Britain.

Above the forest, chalk grassland climbs towards the famous Bronze Age burial mounds known as the Devil’s Humps or King’s Graves. From the higher ground, you’re rewarded with spectacular panoramic views across the South Downs, Chichester Harbour and towards the Solent.

For dogs, there’s a whole world of woodland scents and countryside to discover. For their owners, it’s one of the most atmospheric and unforgettable walks in southern England.

2. West Wittering Beach – Sandy Paws and Sea Air

A short drive from Ashling Park Estate

Few things make a dog happier than a beach, and we’re lucky enough to have the beautiful Sussex coastline just a few minutes’ drive away.

West Wittering is famous for its sweeping sandy beach, dunes and views across the Solent towards the Isle of Wight.

It’s a wonderful place for a long walk, especially during autumn and winter, when the beach is quieter and dogs can enjoy more freedom to explore.

In summer, seasonal dog restrictions apply to the main swimming area, but other sections of the beach remain dog-friendly.

For a different coastal walk, nearby East Wittering and Bracklesham Bay offer more opportunities for seaside adventures with your four-legged friend.

3. Chichester Harbour, Itchenor and the Salterns Way

Beautiful coastal paths, harbour views and picturesque villages

Chichester Harbour is one of the most beautiful places to explore on foot, with quiet waterside paths, sailing boats, wildlife and charming Sussex villages.

Starting from Itchenor, you can enjoy a scenic walk along the harbour and follow connecting paths towards West Wittering village and its glorious beach.

The Salterns Way also provides a lovely route for exploring the area by bicycle, passing through picturesque countryside and linking Chichester with the coast.

For another little adventure, the historic Itchenor Ferry crosses the harbour from Bosham, allowing you to explore even more beautiful harbour walks. It’s a wonderful way to spend a sunny afternoon before returning to Ashling Park for dinner.

4. Goodwood and the South Downs – Views Worth the Climb

Just a short drive away, the Goodwood Estate and surrounding South Downs offer beautiful countryside, wooded paths and spectacular views.

The famous Trundle, overlooking Goodwood Racecourse, is particularly rewarding on a clear day, with wonderful panoramas stretching towards Chichester and the coast.

Whether you fancy a brisk morning walk or a longer afternoon exploring the Downs, there’s no shortage of gorgeous countryside in this part of West Sussex.

Explore Further – Hire an E-Bike at Ashling Park

For guests wanting to venture further afield, we also have electric bikes available to hire at Ashling Park Estate.

The surrounding countryside is threaded with quiet lanes and beautiful routes, making it a lovely area to explore on two wheels.

If you’re planning a cycling adventure with your dog, you’ll need to consider a suitable, safe way for them to accompany you. Our team can help point you towards some of the lovely local routes.
